Kerri McClanahan-Lightfoot grew up in the Kansas City area as one of nine children, where she spent
most of her childhood diving during the summer months, developing a genuine love for the sport of
diving. She was a record breaker at the high school and college levels and assisted in the coaching
of both teams. She remains passionate about the sport and has over 14 years competitive
experience that she hopes to bring to the Daytona Beach area.
She received a diving scholarship to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she received her
BA degree, with a major in psychology and a minor in speech communication. She is currently
married to her husband of 20 years and the mother of two daughters and teaches swimming/stroke
instruction from her home. She was a mentor in Volusia County Schools for two years and
consistently volunteers at her children’s' schools. She was Assistant Girl Scout Troop Leader for four
years. She is a Teachers' Assistant in religious education at her church and currently resides on The
Board of Directors for Religious Education.
Kerri comes to Daytona Beach Speed and Daytona State College with enthusiasm and a commitment
to develop a diving program that builds skills, character, confidence and dreams to strive for success
in all areas of one's life through dedication, discipline, and desire.
