Why
be an official?
First and most important, the team
and your child need you. Without officials, we cannot run
meets. Local meets are so much easier on our swimmers, plus they
raise significant funds for our team. It may look as if we have
plenty of officials on deck, but the fact is that at most meets we have
about half the number of officials and volunteers needed to run
the meet most effectively.
Contribute meaningfully to the
sport. Sitting in the crowd is better than not showing up for
your children, but becoming an official demonstrates to them that you
are caring and active.
Get a great view of the action. This
becomes more important at championship meets when parents cannot come
on deck. As an official, you can be there on deck.
Don't
forget hospitality - free food and drinks.
New friends. You
will meet parents from all over who also enjoy and
support swimming.
Unlike rec sports, we pay our coaches but rely
on volunteers to officiate. We have an excellent coaching staff at
DBS. Coach Steve is one of a small number of Level 5 coaches in
the country. Let's support all the coaches by helping out.
Our team philosophy is that of self improvement through self motivation that encompasses, Commitment, Vision, Perseverance, and Dedication. The development of physical, emotional, social, and psychological skills helps create the equilibrium of mind and body of all Daytona Beach swimmers.
